Read the review count before the score
The scores span 2.5 to 4.7, which looks decisive until you look at the sample sizes behind them. They range from 74 reviews to 13,300 — a factor of 180.
CNFans at 4.2 has been rated by more than four times as many buyers as MuleBuy at 4.7. A score across 13,300 experiences has converged; a score across 2,813 mostly has; a score across 74 has not converged at all and could move a full point in either direction on a good or bad quarter.
Why the fee column barely matters
Six of these eight charge nothing on the order. That is not generosity, it is where the margin has moved to.
The exchange rate
You pay in dollars or euros and the seller receives yuan. The agent chooses the rate for that conversion. Two or three percent against the mid-market rate is invisible on a receipt and larger than most service fees ever were. This is the main mechanism and the hardest to audit.
The shipping quote
Agents buy freight at contract rates and resell it. Two agents quoting the same carrier for the same box can differ by twenty or thirty percent with no explanation anywhere on the checkout.
Everything else
Repacking, extra QC photos, insurance, storage past the free window. Each small, collectively not.
The practical consequence is that comparing agents on fees compares them on the one number they have all set to zero. Price your actual basket at two or three, compare the shipping quote and what the exchange rate implies, and pick from that. It takes fifteen minutes and beats any table.
Sugargoo, the one genuine exception
Sugargoo charges roughly 5% service with a 10–15 CNY minimum, plus 4.8% and $0.50 on payment — the only agent here charging on both sides. On a $300 basket that combination is around $30.
That is a real cost and it is also transparent, which has some value. An agent charging a visible 5% with a keen shipping rate can beat a 0% agent with an inflated one. But it does mean Sugargoo is the single case where running the fee number changes the answer, and its 3.4 rating does not help its case. Run it through the calculator against a 0% competitor before committing.
Storage windows, which matter more than they look
Free storage runs 60 days at CNFans, 90 at most of the field, and 100 at KakoBuy and Sugargoo.
If you buy over several weeks and ship once — which is how anyone avoids paying the first-weight charge repeatedly — this becomes a real constraint. CNFans at 60 days is the tightest here. That is not a problem if you consolidate monthly, and is a problem if you accumulate slowly toward a large parcel.
KakoBuy's 100 days is genuinely the best number in this row, which sits oddly against its 2.5 rating. If you use it, a small first order is the sensible way to find out which of those two figures is more representative.
The agents that are not in this table
Superbuy, ACBuy, Basetao, CSSBuy, OrientDig, LoveGoBuy, HipoBuy, iTaoBuy, EastMallBuy and USFans all work in the link converter. None appears above, because the comparison we sourced did not cover them and we are not going to invent a fee or a rating to fill the row.
Their absence is not a judgement. Several are long-established — CSSBuy predates most of this field. It means only that we have no verified number, and a blank is more useful than a fabricated one.
What about PandaBuy?
Gone. Seized in April 2024 and never reopened. WeGoBuy shut in 2025. Both are still all over community spreadsheets, and any current-year comparison listing either as an option was not written this year. The dead links page covers what to do with the links you already have.
How to actually choose
- Shortlist two or three from the top of the table — MuleBuy, Joyagoo and CNFans is a reasonable starting three.
- Put the identical basket into each and get to the shipping quote.
- Compare the shipping number and the implied exchange rate, not the fee.
- Check the storage window against how quickly you consolidate.
- Place a small first order before trusting one with a large haul.
